A Sample Stay With Us
At Waterfall Resort, we aim to provide you with the best sport-fishing adventure in Alaska. How do we accomplish this? With dedicated service, expert guides and crew, and by maximizing your time on the water.
To start your Alaska fishing adventure, depart your hometown for Seattle, where you transfer to Ketchikan, Alaska, via Alaska Airlines. Plan to arrive early (no later than 11:30 a.m.) for same-day transfer to Waterfall Resort, or overnight in town and explore the sights and attractions of Ketchikan.
To reach Waterfall Resort, you'll board a floatplane at approximately 12:30 p.m. for the 40-minute fly-in to Prince of Wales Island. Upon your arrival at the resort, our general manager and crew welcome you on the docks.
Shortly after check-in, head out for an afternoon of sport fishing. That’s correct. You’re fishing within hours of your arrival in Alaska. Our U.S. Coast Guard licensed guides are happy to share tips and techniques. Reel in salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish, all the while exploring inlets and bays frequented by humpback whales and bald eagles.
On the first day, boats return by 5:30 p.m. for the photo op on the dock of you with your catch. While your fish are processed, flash-frozen, and stored in wet-lock boxes until your departure, you kick back and freshen up for the relaxing night ahead.
From 6 to 8 p.m. our Dining Room serves a hearty buffet of all-you-can-eat Alaska fare, including complimentary Pacific Coast wines. Evening activities may include a hike to our namesake waterfall and a game of pool, ping-pong, or darts in the Lagoon Saloon.
Dig into a hot breakfast, starting at 5 a.m. in the Dining Room. Boats depart at 6:30 a.m. for a full day of fishing.
Have lunch at your leisure aboard your cabin cruiser, followed by an afternoon of more great fishing. On full days, boats return by 4:30 p.m. for dock photos. With luck, one of your fish will land you a place in this year’s King of Kings Salmon Tournament, so be sure to purchase a ticket before you start fishing.
Your full day of sport fishing is capped by another memorable evening of Alaska-style buffet dining, drinks in the saloon, and plenty of fish stories. After dinner, you might pick up that novel you’ve been meaning to finish, or just sit on the dock and enjoy the late evening sun.
After breakfast and a morning of fishing, return to the resort at 10 a.m. Our crew processes the morning’s catch for your trip home, and lunch is available before your floatplane arrives.
Waterfall Resort’s on-site Alaska Airlines agent reconfirms all your flights home, tags your bags and fish boxes, and has your seat assignments and boarding passes ready. If you have a direct, same-day connection on Alaska Airlines, this eliminates the check-in process.
Floatplanes leave Waterfall Resort for Ketchikan at approximately 1:30 p.m. Look forward to your freezer full of wild Alaska fish when you get home.
