The Tee Off Champs

It’s no small feat to even attempt the 165-yard golf shot over our saltwater lagoon (hazards include, well, the lagoon, black bears, ball-diving bald eagles...). But the winners of this year’s Great Alaska Tee Off June 20 to 23, blew our past golf tournament stats out of the water.

The “closest to the pin” winners: Craig Sikes of Crested Butte, Colorado, scored first place at 6 feet, 6 inches (besting the record by 1 foot, 5 inches); Cody Craig of Valencia, California, took second at 8 feet, 11 inches; and John Jacot of Garden Grove, California, came in third at 9 feet, 4 inches.

Collectively these champs (above, left to right: Sikes, Craig, and Jacot) beat last year’s records by 11 feet, 8 inches, and 2016’s by a whopping 19 feet, 3 inches.

Jacot and Craig both scored General Store gift certificates while Sikes won a return trip to Waterfall Resort for 2019. At this rate, someone might even make a hole in one by 2020!
