Alaska’s Waterfall Resort kicked off the 2007 season with their 4th
annual King Salmon
Jackpot Challenge with over 60 guests participating in “no
entry” fee king
salmon tournament…everyone is included. Of those attending, 46
guests also competed in the
optional cash jackpots building the fishing drama to $10,600 over
the two-day Challenge.
In addition to the optional jackpots our
sponsors contributed over $6000 in merchandise
awards and held drawing each evening ….in the end everyone took home
an award or gift
and those who played the jackpots well….it made the event more
exciting.
Guests, as an option, could participate in 4
daily jackpot levels; $25, $50, $125 and $200.
Daily max was $400 or $800 for two days. Enter one, two or all four
levels but your king
salmon has to be the largest in that jackpot level to win.
Follow along our story line, as this is what
makes the jackpot Challenge exciting.

On Sunday, Gonzalo de Verona of Henderson, NV
entered 2 of the 4 daily jackpots ($25
and $50). As luck would have it, he hooked the largest king salmon
of the day at 39.3 lbs
that landed him $1525, a great investment! However, had he been in
all 4 jackpots he
would have swept and won $5200. (Gonzalo-pictured to

The same day, Dan Parker of Lake Forest, CA
competed in all 4 jackpots and his 32.3 lb
king, second largest to Gonzalo took the $125 and $200 levels for a
total of $3675! So
the second largest fish actually won more jackpot…..get the idea?
On Monday, Bill Buckner of Santa Ana was in all
4 jackpots and his 25.9 lb. king was
the largest in the $200 level and took home $1800. Steve Brown of
Irvine, CA who
entered 3 jackpots, ($25, $50 and $125) and landed the largest king
of the day, 37.9 lb.
and scored $3600. Had Steve been in the $200 level as well, he
would have scooped
Bill’s $1800 for a grand jackpot of $5400. The excitement and drama
is what makes this
a great tournament. Are you “IN?”

For 2008, Waterfall will host the 5th
Annual Jackpot Challenge May 28 – 31 and besides
the $25, $50, $125 and $200 jackpots, Waterfall will add a $500
level. Therefore, a guest
can invest in any one or all 5 jackpots totaling $900 per day or
$1800 for the two-day
event. Waterfall is expecting up to 92 guests….for a potential
two-day jackpot of
$165,600.
